Prof. Gian Trachsler
Gian Trachsler was born in Zurich in 1986 and grew up near the city. After graduating from the Liceo Artistico, he studied architecture at the ETH Zurich, where he later worked as an assistant to Prof. Andrea Deplazes. In addition to his main professional activity, he was a board member of the Kalkbreite cooperative in Zurich. In 2016, together with Daniel Hoffmann, Gian Trachsler founded Studio Trachsler Hoffmann, which now employs around 30 people. The architectural practice is dedicated to the planning and design of building projects of various scales in Basel and Zurich. The focus of Studio Trachsler Hoffmann's work is on urban housing and the associated examination of the city as a living space. We are interested in the search for new ways of housing, whether in the transformation of existing buildings or in the typological, spatial response to different forms of living together.
